Where does it say he's using DVD-RW's? The point of burning the game to disc is so that he can create an iso from the burned disc.

Once a game is burned to disc, the end product is the same, regardless if it started as an mds file or an iso file. If you put a burned game in your DVD-ROM drive and look at the files in Windows Explorer, it'll contain all the game files. You can then create a backup from a backup with DVD Decrypter. If he rips the copied game back to his HD, it'll give him a mdf and an iso file.
Then he can patch the iso file with NTSC2PAL patcher. The reason I didn't explain it further, is because it's quite technical and not real important. In short I didn't want to confuse him. I see what you're saying Sulaim. In theory it's correct that the way you're suggesting is good as he wouldn't be wasting a disc to get the iso onto the hard drive so that he can patch it. But then the guy is going to have to go and buy a dvd-rw which aren't that cheap. Then do what Tokijin said.
Whereas he could just use a blank dvd-r which are much cheaper and then keep it incase something goes wrong or throw it away. So in short unless he has another use for that dvd-rw disc, there's no point in buying it really. Another way he could do it without wasting a disc(if it's that important) - is to use isobuster to rip the files to the hard disc from that image file, use cd dvdgen to create the iml file and then gnies Iml2iso program to get it to an iso ready for patching. Much easier tokijin's way though.
