Tears For Fears Live
Knebworth, Hertfordshire, June 30, 1990. 120,000 fansgathered for an historic concert event to aid the Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy Centre and the BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology. This incredible benefit concert was an instant success due to the high-energy, awe-inspiring performances of such rock 'n' roll legends as Paul McCartney, Phil Collins, Pink Floyd, Eric Clapton, Elton John, Mark Knopfler, Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, Status Quo, Tears For Fears and Cliff Richard & The Shadows. Some would say that Starsailor are Chorley's biggest contribution to modern culture since the opening of the nearby Charnock Richard M6 motorway services in the 1960s. Like the aforementioned favourite resting point for Blackpool day-trippers Love Is Here (Live), will become a solid, long-stay favourite for fans.

Recorded in November 2001, one month after the release of their debut album and while they were still being lauded as 'the next big thing', the main feature is a live run through of the album. New composition 'Some of Us' and the B-side 'From a Whisper to a Scream' are also performed, along with versions of Leonard Cohen's 'Hallelujah' and Elton John's 'Rocket Man'. The concert footage and the audio (Dolby 5.1) are of a high quality, and breakthrough tracks 'Poor Misguided Fool' and 'Alcoholic' sound stunning. The show is hampered, though, by the limited material the guys can draw upon, and Walsh's repetitive melancholic delivery of existing songs. What does become apparent is that after a couple more albums and a little more musical experimentation Starsailor are on course to be live giants.
Happy Mondays were, along with the Stone Roses, the defining band of the Madchester scene in the late eighties and early nineties. Their music combined rock and house elements in a unique fusion which, coupled with Shaun Ryders biting lyrics, became the soundtrack of the era. This program captures the band on their first American tour in 1990 in support of their bestselling album Pills n Thrills And Bellyaches. It combines brilliant full performance footage from The Sound Factory in New York with behind the scenes material to give a really intimate portrait of the band at their peak.
There are also cameo appearances from Keith Allen and the late Tony Wilson, founder of Factory Records. Oceansize were one of numerous British bands crafting epic, moody soundscapes in the post-Radiohead era. Their influences ran the gamut from space rock old (Pink Floyd) and new (Mogwai, the Verve) to alternative metal (Jane's Addiction, Tool), shoegaze (My Bloody Valentine, Swervedriver), and even the avant-garde (Can, Tortoise).
Formed in Manchester, England, the band featured vocalist/guitarist Mike Vennart, guitarists Gambler and Steve Durose, bassist Jon Ellis, and drummer Mark Herrin. Quickly building a local following, they issued several independent releases - the 'Saturday Morning Breakfast Show' single, the 2000 EP Amputee, the 2001 EP A Very Still Movement - that got them named Manchester's best unsigned band.

Two thousand eight was a big year for the Vegas quartet known as Panic At the Disco. After famously dropping the! From their nomenclature, the band released their sophomore album Pretty. Odd., the follow-up to 2005's platinum debut, A Fever You Can't Sweat Out. The band eschewed their signature emo-dance party sound for classic Beatles-esque pop-rock. Touring in support of Pretty.
Odd., the band headlined the annual Honda Civic sponsored tour with support acts Motion City Soundtrack, The Hush Sound and Phantom Planet. Their May 23, 2008 stop at the Congress Theater was filmed for Live In Chicago, the band's second live offering, and features new hits such as Nine In The Afternoon, That Green Gentleman (Things Have Changed) and Northern Downpour, as well as longtime fan favorites like I Write Sins Not Tragedies. Puddle Of Mudd rose from the ashes of alternative metal with the release of their debut album Come Clean in 2001. Having been one of the first acts signed and released by Limp Bizkit front man Fred Dursts label, Flawless Records, Come Clean quickly went multi-platinum and spawned the hit singles Control, Blurry and She Hates Me. Although often grouped with the likes of Limp Bizkit and Linkin Park, Puddle Of Mudds sound is a lot closer to the likes of Nirvana and more traditional hard rock.
This was further reinforced by the release of their second album Life On Display in 2003. Striking That Familiar Cord was recorded in the intimate settings of the famous Key Club in Los Angeles, California, capturing the band at their blistering best and featuring the hits Control, Blurry, She Hates Me and Away From Me.
It was one of the most anticipated events in the history of Canadian music. The Tragically Hip, Canada's most beloved rock band, was headlining a festival concert in Bobcaygeon - the small Ontario town, population 2,500, that inspired one of the group's most popular and enduring songs. 25,000 fans from across North America and Europe would make the pilgrimage. This is the story of a monumental concert, told through intimate footage of devoted Hip fans, the townspeople who embraced them, and of the inimitable band who, after more than 25 years of playing music together, have come to represent the soul of Canadian rock. Leave it to My Chemical Romance to call their second full live album — and their second live release during The Black Parade era — The Black Parade Is Dead! Unlike 2007's mini-album Live and Rare, which patched together performances from MCR's fall 2006/winter 2007 dates in the U.K.
And Europe, The Black Parade Is Dead! Is a lavish CD/DVD affair chronicling two performances: the CD captures the band's October 7, 2007, Mexico City date — their last as the Black Parade — while the DVD features video of that show as well as their October 24, 2007, date at Maxwell's in their home state of New Jersey. The Black Parade Is Dead!'
S grandiosity is only fitting, considering how elaborate The Black Parade was, and also fittingly, the Mexico City show is a song-for-song performance of that album — the only difference is 'The Black Parade Is Dead,' where Gerard Way announces to the audience that this is 'the last performance of The Black Parade forever!' Twenty years into their career as a hard-working, hard-touring band with some hard-won success under their collective belt, O.A.R. Is in the studio to create their next single.
Evolution of a Song offers an all access perspective on the sometimes winding route a song takes from idea to recording to release. In episode one, we find O.A.R. At the start of this process and coming to grips with what it will take to create (and document) what could be their next important and lasting anthem.or not. We also hear from the band’s label, management, and songwriting peers on their reactions to and expectations for this truly unique approach to the creative process.
Glastonbury Festival, 1995: The Stone Roses pull out of their headline set after a mountain bike accident and Rod Stewart is unavailable. As last minute replacements, Pulp take to the stage to face 80,000 people. They deliver a set regarded as one of the best in the festival’s history and are catapulted to the forefront of the Britpop movement—an achievement that ten years earlier seemed like an impossible dream.
Made with the full cooperation of Pulp, The Beat is the Law brings together original interviews, performances, promos, newly unearthed live footage and home videos to tell the story of Pulp and their contemporaries’ journey from the darkest industrial depths of Sheffield to the pinnacle of pop via the consciousness-raising techno/house of Warp Records. Featuring original interviews with Pulp’s Jarvis Cocker, Russell Senior, Candida Doyle and Nick Banks, plus Richard Hawley (Longpigs), Mark Brydon (Chakk/FON/Moloko), Rob Gordon (FON/Warp), Adi Newton (Clock DVA) and many more! A singer, poet, songwriter, activist, and composer; Serj Tankian has always created music as an outlet to express his thoughts and feelings with a level of passion and consciousness that few in todays world of music can rival.
An Armenian immigrant born in Lebanon and re-rooted in Los Angeles, Tankian was introduced to the melding of cultures, ideas and ideals from a very young age. The principles learned from this integration and adaptation have led to his understanding of the oneness of all things and have since maneuvered and transfigured into the music that he lives to create. Like many other British bands of the '90s, Supergrass' musical roots lie in the infectiously catchy punk-pop of the Buzzcocks and the Jam, as well as the post-punk pop of Madness and the traditional Brit-pop of the Kinks and Small Faces.
The band brings in elements of decidedly unhip groups like Elton John, as well as classic rockers like David Bowie, the Beatles, and the Rolling Stones. With an exuberant, youthful enthusiasm, Supergrass tied all of their influences together in new surprising ways, where a Buzzcocks riff could slam into three-part harmonies out of 'Crocodile Rock,' or have a galloping music hall rhythm stutter like the best moments of the Who. Concert in Vancouver featuring 'A Box Full of Sharp Objects,' 'On My Own' and more. The members of the Used had to overcome poverty, homelessness, and substance abuse, not to mention the straitlaced attitudes of their hometown of Orem, Utah, to bring their screamo-tinged brand of post-hardcore to life. But they persevered and earned a contract with Reprise Records, releasing their self-titled debut album in June 2002. Having only played a handful of shows around Orem prior to their record's release, the band — vocalist Bert McCracken, guitarist Quinn Allman, bassist Jeph Howard, and drummer Branden Steineckert — began relentless nationwide touring that quickly saw their fan base multiply. Club dates soon turned into successful stints on larger-scale festival/package tours including the Warped Tour, Ozzfest, and Projekt Revolution alongside Linkin Park and Snoop Dogg. The Veronicas hail from Brisbane, Australia, where twin sisters Jess and Lisa Origliasso began working in show business at the age of five.
Born on Christmas Day in 1984, Jess and Lisa first performed as the Origliasso Twins, and their appearances at awards shows and sporting events drew the attention of agents and talent agencies. As teenagers, the twins released three teen pop albums under the name Lisa & Jessica, and they began making forays into TV after landing recurring roles in the Australian children's series Cybergirl. After Jess received a guitar as a birthday present in 2002, though, the girls started devoting more time to songwriting, gradually transforming their sound from pop to alternative rock in the process.
